Completed works on the construction of the photovoltaic power plant at the Psychiatry Clinic of St. Ivan

Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević and his deputies Danijela Dolenec and Luka Korlaet, together with the Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds Šim Erlić, director of the Clinic for Psychiatry of St. Ivan with Vladimir Grošić, Ambassador of Norway to the Republic of Croatia H.E. Arne Sannes Bjørnstad and the director of the Regional Energy Agency of Northwestern Croatia, Julije Domc, visited the solar power plants at the building of the Clinic for Psychiatry of St. Ivan na Jankomir.

"The 300kW solar power plant will achieve annual electricity savings in the amount of around 50,000 euros, which is 50% less than the current costs. The power of this power plant alone is half of the total capacity of all the panels that the City has installed in the last 20 years! This is just the beginning! The goal of this City Administration is to increase these capacities by as much as 50 times," said Mayor Tomislav Tomašević after a tour of the Clinic, which in the future will receive half of the necessary energy with the power of the sun.

Mayor Tomašević pointed out that this is the largest power plant installed so far on buildings managed by the City of Zagreb or owned by the City. "On the one hand, we are doing something that is good for the environment, on the other hand, we are doing something good for the local economy, and on the third hand, we are making financial savings for our institutions," he emphasized.

Director of REGEA Julije Domac pointed out that, at current prices, the Clinic will save around 48,000 euros per year. On behalf of the employees and residents of the Clinic for Psychiatry of St. Ivan, director Vladimir Grošić thanked the mayor and his colleagues for the excellent cooperation in the realization of this and other projects. "This is just the beginning of our efforts to reduce the amount of harmful gases in the atmosphere. The city gives us great support for our work, they have an ear for innovative ideas and support us in a series of projects that we implement in our day hospitals."

The remaining buildings on which solar power plants with a total power of 1.43 MW will be installed as part of the project are: the roofs of the Utrine, Svetice and Jelkovec swimming pools, the Trnsko kindergarten, the Trešnjevka 1 and 2 elderly homes and the Čistoće branch facility - SOC Jakuševac.

This project is a good example of green policy and an indicator of what public institutions can do to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions.
